Racing an Ultimate Yacht

The UYA Victorian State Championships are held each February at selected Yacht Clubs within Victoria, alternating between bay and country venues.

Four races are conducted over two days, with each class vying for their own trophy. The State Champion is the overall winner on handicap.

Upcoming Races

  • Saturday 6th December 2008
Arthur The Great Race, Geelong Trailable Yacht Club

  • Sunday 15th February 2009
Top of the Bay Cruise/Sternchaser, sailed out of St Kilda Marina or Williamstown

The main object of the Top of the Bay event is to have an interesting and enjoyable day's sailing, a chance to get some valuable practice in the lead up to the State Racing and Cruising Titles which is just 2 weeks later.
In order to give all entrants a chance of winning, boats will start at intervals based on past performances and on whether or not a spinnaker will be used.  If the handicap guestimates are perfect the whole fleet will cross the finish line together.  First over the line will win the "UYA Top of the Bay perpetual trophy" which will be awarded at the  Presentation /Dinner Dance in May.

If you intend taking part (or are thinking about it) email David Judkins whereupon  the following will be sent to you:    Entry form, Instruction sheet and Course sheet.
To allow time for estimating handicaps your reply should be in no later that Feb 10th.

    Contact David Judkins for details.
